Darcy Lubbers,
MFT, ATR-BC
is
the founder of Magic of Healing West, which offers workshops in mind/body
healing, preventive medicine and the expressive arts - to the public and
for health professionals. She teaches a variety of workshops, which include
The Magic of Healing, Creating Health, Primordial Sound Meditation,
Creative Pathways, and the Art and Soul Workshop.
Ms. Lubbers has
received extensive training in the related modalities of Marriage
and Family Therapy, Clinical Art Therapy, Clinical Hypnosis, Guided Imagery,
Meditation, Structural Bodywork (Hellerwork), Yoga, Movement Awareness,
and Mind Body Medicine, including Ayurvedic Healing Practices.
She has been in private practice for over twenty five years, and
maintains a private practice as a Marriage and Family Therapist and Clinical
Art Therapist in Santa Monica, CA..
Ms. Lubbers also offers Mind Body Lifestyle consultations for individuals
and groups, drawing upon her extensive background in each of these mind
body disciplines. She is available in person or by telephone for consultations.
Lifestyle themes include stress reduction, enhancing creativity, and life
balance.
Ms. Lubbers' background
includes teaching and student training on both undergraduate and graduate
levels. For ten years she served as a Supervisor of Clinical Art Therapy
graduate students at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles. She has
also served as a faculty member for the Los Angeles Hellerwork Training.
Ms. Lubbers currently supervises postgraduate interns in her private practice
and also offers classes and supervision for bodywork practitioners.
Trained in the
Miller Approach to clinical hypnosis,
Ms. Lubbers has co-led The Heart of Hypnosis trainings with Emmett
Miller, MD. in N. CA. Additionally, she has served as a consultant for
the Chopra Center for Well Being in Carlsbad, California, for the B.I.O.S.
Integrative Cancer Center in Los Angeles, California, and for Renaissance
Malibu, a residential recovery retreat center for drug and alcohol addictions.
Ms. Lubbers currently provides an Art Therapy program for the patients
at Bridges to Recovery, a psychological retreat center in Pacific
Palisades, CA for individuals with Depression, Bipolar Illness and emotional
trauma issues. She also coordinates the Life Balance Program for Bridges
Transitions and Outpatient Services and leads groups in Art Therapy, Stress
Management, Body Image, Creative Pathways, and Mindful Eating.
Ms. Lubbers published *Adult Art Psychotherapy: Issues
and Applications, with Helen Landgarten, ATR, HLM. in 1991. Her publishing
credits also include articles in the Depression and Bipolar Support
Alliance (DBSA) Conference Manual, BSherit Integrative Oncology
Services Newsletter, Beginnings Magazine, and Whole Life Times
Magazine.
