Life in Balance Workshop- April 21- 28, 2007- Kauai, Hawaii

The island of Kauai was chosen as the location for this retreat/workshop because it provides a feast for the senses, with its sheer natural beauty and diversity. With this extraordinary immersion into nature we can more clearly understand how to heal ourselves and our world.

In places where the climate changes are dramatic
, we will have the opportunity to enjoy walking and sitting meditations, and to tap into our creativity with drawings of the landscapes we visit.

The ancient wisdom of Ayurveda is merged with the knowledge of modern medicine and quantum physics in this workshop, to create an integrated path toward greater health.
Considered one of the leading forms of holistic medicine available, Ayurveda addresses all factors that influence our quality of life, and affect our health and well being.

Health is more than simply the absence of disease — it is a dynamic state of balance and it is profoundly creative and joyful. It results from an integration of body, mind, and spirit- and the world around us.

In the Life in Balance Workshop you will have an opportunity to:

    Develop a greater understanding of your unique mind/body physiology, and how to bring healing and balance into your physical, emotional and spiritual experience of life through this understanding.

    Understand how the cycles of nature influence physical and emotional well being. Learn to harmonize biological rhythms through adopting a daily routine, and learn a self-massage to release healing bio-chemicals into your physiology.

    Honor your body's internal signals and identify which foods create optimal energy and nourishment. Learn basic principles for preparing and eating meals in order to restore balance, improve digestion, and transform unwanted habits.

    Enliven your senses, and identify which sounds, tastes, aromas, visual and kinesthetic experiences can balance and heal your own unique mind body physiology. Learn the ways in which we metabolize and digest our sensory experience.

    Experience a profound emotional cleansing process to release accumulated stresses. Learn ways to communicate in relationships that allow for greater intimacy and fulfillment. Examine the physical, emotional, and spiritual layers that make up human experience.

    Learn to use your heart as well as your mind to make insightful choices and evolutionary life decisions. Sharpen your intuition and inner wisdom. Tap into the present moment through creative expression, and learn how to recognize and express your own inherent unique gifts and talents.

    Practice yoga. As part of the Ayurvedic tradition, yoga is well known as a doorway to opening energy in the body. Through the practice of asana and pranayama (breathing techniques) blockages that inhibit the free-flow of prana, or vital life force energy, begin to melt away.

    Enhancing flexibility and releasing stress can be as meaningful a purpose for beginning a yoga practice as is the awakening of spirituality. A gift of yoga is that it serves and nourishes us at every level of our being, and contributes to greater well being in all areas of life.

    Practice a variety of pathways to enter into meditative, healing states of awareness. Meditation is the most powerful tool there is to help us restore the harmony within, and to gain access to our bodies' inner intelligence. By developing a meditative practice, you also help to shift the collective consciousness on the planet toward greater harmony and peace.
